confirming reports that drummer Lars Ulrich was absent from the group's
gig at the Download festival earlier tonight. It reads as follows:

"Yes, the rumours are true, Lars was not present at the Download Festival.
Joey Jordison from SLIPKNOT and Dave Lombardo from SLAYER stepped up to
the plate and helped out, more info and details to follow..."

According to various people that attended the show, METALLICA played 11
tracks, with Jordison (complete with his SLIPKNOT mask) sitting behind the
kit for most of them (photos). The set list for the concert is believed to
have been the following:

01. Battery (w/ Lombardo)
02. The Four Horsemen (w/ Lombardo)
03. For Whom The Bell Tolls (w/ Jordison)
04. Creeping Death (w/ Jordison)
05. Seek And Destroy (w/ Jordison)
06. Fade To Black (w/ Lars' drum tech Flemming Larsen)
07. Wherever I May Roam (w/ Jordison)
08. Last Caress (w/ Jordison)
09. Sad But True (w/ Jordison)
10. Nothing Else Matters (w/ Jordison)

NME.com riporta la notizia che il batterista dei Metallica Lurs Ulrich
è attualmente in un ospedale in Germania e sta attendendo i risultati
delle analisi. Come apparso in una precedente notizia i Metallica il 6
Giugno scorso hanno suonato al Download festival in Inghilterra senza
Ulrich, che è stato sostituito dai batteristi Joey Jordison (Slipknot)
e Dave Lombardo (Slayer). Secondo NME.com, Lars avrebbe avuto un
mancamento mentre era a bordo di un jet privato che lo stava
trasportando da Lisbona all'Inghilterra e di coseguenza, si è scelto
di fare uno scalo in Germania dove era già pronta un'ambulanza. Un
portavoce della band ha dichiarato che il batterista è in attesa dei
risultati delle analisi e attualmente è ricoverato in un ospedale in
Germania.

Non si parla di tecnica, ovviamente.
Lars e' un batterista vecchia scuola, di quelli che ancora "toccano" la
batteria piuttosto che limitarsi a percuoterla.
Dave e' sicuramente un carro armato, e tecnicamente e' certamente su un
altro livello, ma io continuo a preferire (e di gran lunga) Lars. Anche
se non sono un fan dei Metallica.

Per una volta sono d'accordo col Purrone.
Con tutti i suoi limiti (o forse grazie a quelli), Lars
ha un tocco magico che mi piace un casino. Trovo estremamente
piacevole sentirlo pestare sulle pelli. Lombardo lo ammiro
per il tecnicismo; Lars mi piace proprio, punto e basta.
